A prominent socio-political group in Kalabari kingdom known as the Kalabari Unity Project Initiative for Good Governance (KUPIGG) has endorsed the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for a second term in office.
The group which made the endorsement during its congress meeting at the weekend in Port Harcourt, extolled the effective leadership qualities of the President. The KUPIGG maintained that President Jonathan has done well as regards to the development of the country.
The association highlighted some of the reasons why its members back President Jonathan which include: resuscitation of the rail system, improve in power supply, rehabilitation of major roads, provision of infrastructure, improved foreign reserve and several others.
They called on aspirants eyeing Aso Rock to sink their ambition and stand behind the President because he has done much for the citizens of the country.
“President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is our son, brother, father and in-law. No doubt his administration has put smiles on the faces of the citizenry. Therefore there is need for all and sundry to support him for another 4 year tenure in office, so that he will continue to do his good works that will turn around the fortune of the entire country”, KUPIGG said, adding that “our President we appreciate you, keep doing it”.
Meanwhile the organization has thrown its weight behind the Supervising Minister for Education, Chief Hon. Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike as the next Governor of Rivers State. KUPIGG thanked the Minister for uniting the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the state to clear hurdles for the President to scale through in 2015.
The group through its Chairman, Jerry Horsfall and Secretary, Comrade Damiete West pointed out that, the Federal Minister has initiated programmes and policies that have positive impact on the lives of the people of the state in particular, but Nigeria as a whole.
The KUPIGG believes strongly that if Chief Wike emerges as the flagbearer of the party, PDP is sure of her electoral victory in 2015 in Rivers State. The group said that as a Minister, he has created much development in the education sector.
They applauded the administrative and political acumen of Chief Wike, expressing optimism that his tenure as the next governor of Rivers State would ensure total economic transformation and infrastructural development in the state.
The group noted that Chief Wike as a grassroots politician and mobilizer, if given the mandate to succeed Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi in 2015, there would be speedy rural and community development.
They enjoined Rivers people to ensure that Chief Wike becomes the next elected and executive governor of Rivers State. ###
