Wokekoro Assures Pensioners Prompt Payment Of Allowances

 The Rivers State chairman of the Local Government Service commission, Hon. Nnamdi Wokekoro has assured pensioners in the state of prompt payment of their allowances.

Wokekoro gave the assurance when declaring open a one day workshop for Rivers State pensioners organized by the Commission.

Hon. Wokekoro who recalled that he has been retired in offices several times, as a former chairman Port Harcourt City LGA, former SA, Chairman of the Rivers State Environmental Sanitation Authority noted that he was aware of the feelings of retirees, assuring them that he will liaise with the chairmen and members of the Caretakers Committees of the 23 LGA’s of Rivers State to ensure that their plight was considered saying that his door is open to everyone who want to discuss important issues.

In his speech, Barr. Franklin Ajinwo the Head of Local Government Administration Port Harcourt City LGA who expressed gratitude to the Rivers State Local Government Service Commission chairman and members for organizing the workshop noted that it would go along way to bring hope and knowledge to the pensioners.

Ajinwo who is also NULGE President in the state pleaded with the pensioners to note that their retirement was not the end of the world rather a way of promoting them to another level, assured them that he will liaise with the staff that are responsible for the processing of their payment to pay their dues promptly and commended the retirees for completing their services without problem.

In his contribution Hon. Allen Mbadiwe commended Governor Amaechi for appointing Hon. Nnamdi Wokekoro as the chairman of the commission as he is the man who would understand the situation of the commission stressing that the chairman of the commission came at the right time.

He urged the pensioners to always show good example with their meritorious services and thanked every one who graced the occasion.

Earlier in his speech Hon. Kingsley Jaja a member of the commission described the pensioners workshop as important.

According to him, fear always grips the staff after retirement because they don’t know the outcome of their future.

Hon Jaja assured them of hope stressing that there is always achievement after working for a long period. ###
