The management and staff of De Effect Magazine and De Effect Club have ended its 1st Conference held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, with the theme: “THIS IS NIGERIA”.
Presenting her lecture at the event which centered on “Tourism in Nigeria”, Mrs. Nkechi Ihejirika stressed the need for Nigeria to develop her tourist areas and making them more attractive. The guest lecture who did not rule-out the idea of Nigerians going abroad to visit some tourist areas, added that such experiences should be replicated back home, to boost the economy of the nation.
However, the chairman of the occasion, Hon. Okey Chinda, represented by Mr. Kenneth Oparati, commended Mr. Bright 0. Aleruchi, the publisher of De Effect Magazine for his courage; expressing joy that an Ikwerre man has also joined the league of world publishers and promised to help in nurturing the good vision of the publisher.
While the representative of the immediate past LGA chairman of Obio/Akpor, Hon. Timothy Nsirim lauded the three schools that where in attendance at the event and took part in the quiz competition that was conducted at the conference. Mrs. Joy Igwe opined that N 100,000.00 star prize that was given to the Federal Government College that emerged winner of the quiz competition be an annual prize from Hon. Nsirim to support students in their quest for academic excellence.
She further Urged the winner of the second prize of N30,000.OO from De Effect Magazine, which went to Baptist High School and the 3rd position prize of N20,000.OO that went to Holy Rosery School, courtesy of Barouche Global Resources Ltd, to study harder, in order to clinch the first position next year.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Lilian Onyeama, former Managing Editor and Consultant to De Effect Magazine said she was happy to be part of De Effect Magazine after being consulted by the publisher, Mr. Aleruchi. She noted that their vision was to publish a magazine that will cut-across the shores of Nigeria as currently witnessed.
Earlier in his speech, Mr. Aleruchi, the publisher of De Effect Magazine and Anthology of Poems stated that the 1st De Effect Conference was meant to bring people and ideas on topical issues bordering on the growth, development, possible ways and solutions in selling those ideas.
Aleruchi noted that the theme of the conference “This is Nigeria”, was to explore the potentials of Nigeria, X-ray the possibility of maximizing those potentials and putting to work, the ideas generated from the conference, to better the lot of Nigeria.
The conference also witnessed the induction of some eminent persons which include: Hon. Timothy Nsirim, Bishop Lucky Aroh and Hon. Okey Chinda among others, to De Effect Hall of Fame/Membership Certification. ###
