Your Visit A Morale Booster, Development Strategy – Wilcox

BONNY CTCThe home visit of the member representing Bonny Constituency, Hon. Aye Atama Pepple has been described as a morale booster and development strategy to the growth of the Bonny Local Government Area.

Chairman, Caretaker Committee of the Bonny LGA, Warisenibo Adonye Wilcox made the disclosure at the Council headquarters, Bonny, Monday.

Wilcox appealed for cooperation and support from the legislator and other political leaders to enable him succeed, adding that no man is an island.

Warisenibo Adonye Wilcox promised to do everything in his power to make life meaningful for the people of Bonny.

In his response, Hon. Pepple said the visit was part of his oversight functions as the member representing Bonny Constituency, to ensure that the Local Government Administration in Bonny is moving smoothly.

He said, according to the laws of the land, the State House of Assembly has the responsibility to directly supervise the activities of the Local Government. Honorable Pepple said he was in Bonny to confirm that the newly constituted caretaker committee was working “I am sure that you are 100 percent in charge of Bonny Local Government. That is what I have come to see. Whatever you must have heard, the reason for the constitution of the Caretaker Committee is very clear. It is in line with the laws of Rivers State for Local Government passed by the Rivers State House of Assembly. So you are superintending over a legal entity called Bonny Local Government Council enshrined in our laws.

The State Legislator called on the supervisors to cooperate with the chairman so that they would together achieve meaningful results for the good of Bonny. Hon Pepple also charged the C.T.C Chairman to work towards building the All Progressives Congress (APC) to be the dominant Party in Bonny.

Earlier the Council Chairman assured the lawmaker that he would not disappoint the people of Bonny in the discharge of his duty. He also briefed Hon. Pepple of the outcome of his meeting with His Majesty-in-council.

In another development, Bonny C.T.C. Chairman had received an Ethnic Nationality Forum.

Warisenibo Adonye Wilcox, has pledged that non-mdigenes residents in the area will be given a sense of belonging by his administration. He made the pledge when the executive members of Ethnic Nationalities Forum in Bonny Island paid him a courtesy visit in his office.

The Chairman advised the group to widen its coast by bringing in all the other ethnic nationalities into one fold to make it easy for Government to deal with them. As a way of giving them a sense of belonging, the CTC chairman promised to post somebody to the employment agency to take care of non-indigenes’ quota. He also asked them to nominate two names for appointment as adviser and special assistant.

Earlier in an address presented by its President General Comrade Prince N. Charles, the group was formed for the unification of Nigerians resident in Bonny irrespective of tribe, religion, creed or culture.

The purpose of the visit, according to the address was to congratulate the chairman on his appointment and to assure him of their total support, loyalty and cooperation.
