The Rivers State owned and sponsored Royal Woopers Basketball club may after all go on relegation in the Nigeria basketball league this season.
After playing Union Bank Basketball at Lagos which Royal Woopers lost 60-70 to Union Bank Basketball club of Lagos, the club is stranded as it could not pay her hotel bills and transport fares back to Port Harcourt, the club base.
The Newswriter gathered the same story now and then, there is no money, this is the issue as the Rivers State Government has not made any budget to accommodate the club in her spending even as Sharks, Dolphins and Rivers Angels are given attention against Royal Woopers.
The situation will mean that, private and corporate organization may just step in to salvage or bail Royal Woopers out from going into extinction.
The back to back DSTV basketball winner club may not be in existence if concerned citizens and corporate organizations will not come to the aid of the club.
According to an official of the club, if that happens, the Rivers State Government might have just achieved it aim of killing Royal Woopers. ###
