Ogunbote Positions Sharks For First League Trophy

Coach Gbenga Ogunbote may be the Messiah Sharks have be waiting for to win the club first league trophy since the club inception.

Sharks after playing 15 games is comfortably sitting on top of the league table with 26 points. Sharks garnered these points after picking a point from sunshine of Akure, Ogunbote’s former club in the week 14 and Week 15 encounter with Rangers FC of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

It would be recalled that Coach Gbenga Ogunbote took over mantle of leadership at a time Sharks was relegation bound and he was able to land Sharks safely to end the league last football season.

Before the start of the league, the courageous, optimistic Akure born tactician assured fans and followers of Sharks football that he is hopeful to secure a continental ticket in the 2014/2015 Nigeria season. True to his words, he is coasting close to securing the continental ticket he is hoping for as sharks looks set to winning the league at the end of the season.

The only thing coach Ogunbote should be prayerful that, the Rivers State Government should be able to see him through with Finance as the government always cry of no money.

He has done it in the Nigeria Professional Football league before with sunshine stars of Akure, taking them to the continental, so to Ogunbote taking Sharks to the continent is a normal thing he is used to, but he needs the support of both fans and lovers of good football in Rivers State.

The league is in the first stanza, meaning there is no clear leader in sight except Sharks will be able to win all her matches without dropping point at both away and home matches, gap between Nasarawa United and Sharks in week 13 was not much as a lose at away and a draw may just cause a drop of points for Sharks on the league table as Sharks is occupying as the league- leaders. ###
