The Governor Amaechi’s All Progressives Congress (APC) plot to replace himself with an Ogoni governor has taken a new dimension as an academic Don and Vice Chancellor of the Rivers State University of Science and Technology (RSUST) Prof. Barineme Fakae is reportedly tipped to fly the APC flag in Rivers State.
An APC source within the Rivers State Government House has hinted The Newswriter Political Desk, adding that, there is nothing wrong with an Ogoni man from the South-East Senatorial District flying the APC’s flag as against speculations that with an Andoni Man as Chairman of the Party, Ogoni chances have been over-ruled.
The top APC Chieftain, who pleaded for anonymity quoted the Governor Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi as saying that, there is nothing wrong with Party chairmanship and Governor emerging from the same District, recalled that, the Dr. Peter Odili days had the late Dr. Marshall Harry from the same Senatorial District as Party chairman, buttressing that, Party offices was different from elective offices.
The Governor’s sudden romance with the Kalabari Kingdom was described as an alternative choice of the governor, if the riverine opposition thickens by the day.
If this information has anything to do with the truth of happenings within the APC, then the alleged face-off between the governor and the distinguished Senator Magnus Ngei Abe, a governorship hopeful for the majority of electorate might be deepening and could spur for more political differences.
Going by the news of the University Don appearing in the partisan political scene for the Ogonis slot, backed up by Governor Amaechi, it depicts that there is a political war looming in the area.
The war would be academic versus political popularity test. ###
