Check-off Dues: Health Workers Threaten Legal Suit Against Rivers Council Chairmen

The Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria has urged the Rivers State Local Government Chairmen to handover Health Workers’ salary to the Rivers State Primary Healthcare Board not just the file alone.

Comr. Beatrice Itubo (JP), the Chairman of Rivers State Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria told journalists that the 23 Local Government Chairmen should handover the Health Workers’ salary to the Rivers State Primary Healthcare Board because they are the supervising body of the Medical and Health Workers in various Twenty-three (23) Local Government in Rivers State.

The Medical and Health Workers Boss appealed to the Head of Service, Local Government Service Commission to intervene in the Medical and Health Workers check-off dues “to pay us our check-off dues if not they will face a legal battle, that NULGE has no right to be collecting Medical and Health Workers check-off dues that they should put a stop to collect Medical and Health Workers check-off dues.

She also said that, “we are ready to collaborate with Rivers State NHIS and other organizations who are into health micro insurance programme”. ###
