Brazil 2014 World Cup: Sports Minister Sets trophy Target

The Minister of Sports, Dr. Tamuno Danagogo has set a target of “bringing home the trophy” for the Nigeria Super Eagles to bring the world cup trophy to Nigeria.

The Minister announced this when the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and other sports supporters club decorated him as a patron of the club in Abuja Tuesday last week. He however hinted that playing in the semi final stage would be the last acceptable target he is giving to the Super Eagles.

Dr. Tamuno Danagogo also used the medium to inform the supporters club that their letter to the President to release enough fund to make the supporters club be on their toes, throughout the mundial has gained approval from the President.

He said the media misquoted the Federal Government on the target set for the Eagles in the World Cup.

“I have said it repeatedly that our target is not the quarter finals or semi as was reported by the media but our target is to win the world cup.

“The semi finals is just the minimum target we can accept as consideration for any misfortune for the tournament. We want to celebrate with the trophy in the country but we can only receive the team if they play in the semi finals.

It is the acceptable minimum target with which we can welcome the team with smiles. The meaning is that we are aiming for the best in the tournament. ###
