“Why I Abandoned Amaechi” – Ex Commissioner

COMMISSIONERIf politicians were to be held accountable for their words, actions and inactions, one would have no option than to believe that Hon. Marshall Uwom, having listened to his prophetic utterances on the political situation in Rivers State and Nigeria at large, will indeed believe that Uwom could be able to handle whatever political position that he may be appointed or voted for, with the fear of God, haven served as a Commissioner in Rivers State, for five consecutive times.

Fielding questions from The Newswriter in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on why he decided to resign as the state Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Marshall Uwom, said he will not assume to be perfect in all his endeavors as a human being, pointing out that he took his time before taken the decision that best suits his conscience as a Christian.

The longest served commissioner in the state before his recent resignation said: “I resigned my appoint as a Commissioner because I would rather support and work for a Christian President of this country than any other religion. I am not saying that other religions are not important, because Christ died for both Christians and non Christians alike, which has given everyone the opportunity to be alive today”.

“In as much as I stick to my faith and profess that Christ died on the Cross of Calvary for my sake, I think I will stick to my faith and with my position as a Christian and the kind of conviction that I have, I don’t think that there is any other party except PDP, which I belong. I am not preaching PDP, because PDP as a party has its own problems.”

“I don’t want to be in other parties that will not allow me to be in conformity with my faith, but to be on a vehicle that will drive me to the expected destination and that was why I took the decision. It is better for one to open up than to keep silence and be in a place where you know that your mind, spirit and soul does not belong and by doing so, the other person may likely understand why you choose to do what you did”.

Responding to the feelings of some of his supporters, who may have wanted him to move to All Progressive Congress APC; for one reason or the other, Hon. Uwom, who gave biblical references to back up all his responses added: “my supporters will not want me to go to APC, because they know that I belong to PDP. I will not belong to any party that will destroy my faith and the church of Jesus Christ”.

The former Housing and Urban Development Commissioner further said: “APC is a party that has been designed to destroy Nigeria, it has Islamic agenda”.

“My advice to the people of Rivers State is that they should hold on to their faith in God, irrespective of the position they may found themselves”.
