The youths from Niger Delta geo-political zone have been advised to be engage in agriculture to boost food security in the country.
Mr. Ofimaobari Igwe who gave the advice while speaking with newsmen in Port Harcourt at the weekend, stressed the important of youths’ involvement in the development of agriculture in the country.
Mr. Igwe who is also the youth representative of the Rivers State chapter of All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) in the Rivers South-East Senatorial District, said that the time has come for youths to channels their energies towards profitable ventures, especially farming. He added that farming is only sure way to provide job opportunities to the Niger Delta.
He had earlier made a passionate appeal to the State Government and relevant agencies to provide farming implements and fertilizers to the farmers, saying that these are essentials in agriculture.
Mr. Igwe felicitated with the chairman of Rivers AFAN, Prince Alphaeus Ibanichuka and expressed optimism his leadership would initiate policies and programmes that would better the lot of farmers in Rivers State. ###
