A prominent politician in Obuama Community in the Degema Local Government Area, Hon. Tam Fred Harry said that he is not happy the way and the manner in which some members of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who decamped to the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) are maltreating the original members of the party (APC).
Comrade Harry who made this known at a press briefing in Port Harcourt, on Monday said that as a former chieftain of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), now a full-fledged member of APC, he was not consulted during the Ward and LGA congresses of the APC in Delga.
“I do not know the kind of politics those who came from PDP are playing. They are just flooded the party and giving positions without letting us know. After all we are the original members of APC”. Comrade Harry said, adding that the defunct CAN, ANPP< CPC and part of APGA merged to form APC.
He pointed that the hijack of the party by some infiltrators from the ruling PDP would not do the APC any good in the LGA. Harry advised that things should be done normally to avoid unnecessary suspicious among party members.
His words, “I must be frank those PDP decampees are not helping matters in the party. They should give everyone of us a sense of belonging as members of one family. After all PDP was not part of the merger plan that gave birth to APC, I see no reason why the PDP decampees refuse to recognize me as the head of opposition in Obuama.
What we need is justice and equity so that the party can scale through. We do not need any PDP style in APC, because APC is a responsible political party.”
Comrade Harry had earlier said that the only way to usher in the needed socio-political and economic development in the state is to allow the Kalabaris to produce the next governor of the state come 2015.
He called on all the political parties to zone their governorship slots to the Kalabari kingdom so as to avoid tension in the state during the election in 2015. ###
