RSG Has Never Acquired Any Land from Okuru-Ama – Commissioner

The Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Barr. Ezemonye Ezekiel Amadi said that the Rivers State Government has never acquired any parcel of land from Okuru-Ama community in the Port Harcourt City Local Government Area.
The Commissioner who made this known at a press briefing in Port Harcourt, while reacting swiftly to “protest staged by some women from Okuru-Ama over an alleged illegal acquisition of the community’s land by the state government.
Barr. Ezekiel-Amadi described the said protest as “political motivated”, adding that the protesting women lied because the Golf Estate occupies only 25 acre of land and not 200000 acres of land as allegedly claimed by the Okuru-Ama woman.
According to him, the area in question including the Trans-Amadi axis of the state capital was acquired by the defunct Eastern Nigerian Government and that whatever parcel of land acquired by the President administration under Governor Chibuike Amaechi adequate compensation is paid.
He revealed that Governor Chibuike Amaechi’s administration has so far acquired lands in Ogoni, Etche and Omerelu and that compensation is paid without any problem.
The Commissioner lampooned the protesting women for allowing themselves to be used by some selfish politicians, saying that government has never destroyed their farmland and other community’s property. ###
