The Nkanu butchers union, Rumueleshi slaughter slab, Port Harcourt has called on the Rivers State Environmental Sanitation Authority to come to their aid in clearing the blocked drainages at Mile 3 axis.
The union chairman, Captain Ozoemena John Onu made this call while speaking to journalists in his office, stressing that the blocked drainage can cause flooding in Mile 3 building materials axis and its environ during rainfalls.
Captain Ozoemena expressed delight for the tireless effort of Mr. Ade, the Sole Administrator of Rivers State Environmental Sanitation Authority to keep Rivers State clean, adding that his leadership has transformed the state environmental sector, and also commended the agencies previous assistance in keeping the area clean.
The Nkanu butchers union chairman congratulated Gov. Amaechi for his developmental strides in Rivers State, praying God to protect him as he moves the state to greater height. The union boss implored dwellers of the area to maintain good sanitary habit and be law abiding in all their endeavours.
The Executive chairman of Nkanu Butchers Union, Captain Ozoemena said that Nkanu butchers operate in a hygienic and clean environment, saying before every cow will be slaughtered in their abattoir, vetenary doctors and public health inspectors inspect.
Captain Ozoemena said that his administration has achieved a lot in the area of complete roofing of the abattoir house and their offices including the meat seller shades.
He also spoke on the relationship between the government agencies like NESREA, Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Agriculture who supervised the slaughter slabs, as one of the accredited and registered slaughter slabs in the state.
The Nkanu Butchers boss told journalists that they will soon conduct yearly medical examination and medical fitness for all butchers and meat sellers in their slaughter, adding that the NASSI project and Strategy Alliance Partners (SAP) introduced insurance scheme for butchers and the meat sellers, including business loan for the Rivers small scale and medium business, is a welcome development.
He also called on the Nigeria Association of Small Scale industrialists as an umbrella for trade group in the State to organize a butcher entrepreneur business development and management skills workshop for all butchers and meat sellers. ###
