The Governor of Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has in a recent meeting in Government House regretted his choice of the Andoni Council Boss, Orom Nte Ereforokuma when he made a public show of Ereforokuma’s inability to effectively run the council and carry all parties along rather than fueling camps and gangs against the state Deputy Governor, Engr. Tele Ikuru.
The governor who was visibly angry regretted that Ereforokuma who ordinarily supposed to be a mediator in the political factions in the area was the one fueling. It narrating how he choose him amidst pressure not to make him chairman of council by Andoni people.
The meeting according to The Newswriter source was to address the impasse between the political camps of the Deputy Governor, Ikuru and the council boss, Ereforokuma.
On Ereforokuma’s entourage were Robert Elleh, Chief Ibiamu Ikanya, Sam Sam Etetegwung, Chief Clifford Njah and Chief Emma Ibodeng amongst others.
It was gathered that a former commissioner, Mr. Robert Elleh in the state whose performance then was rated below 10% and was unable to recite the Nigerian National Anthem was first to accused the Deputy Governor of non-challant attitude towards the well being of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in the area.
Against the expectations of the Ereforokuma’s camp, the meeting ended in favour of the Ikuru’s camp as the visibly angry Gov. Amaechi in his usual listening manner, haven listened to submissions from both camps ordered the camps of the Council Boss and State Acting Chairman Chief Ikanya to dissolve forthwith and work with the Deputy Governor, who is the leader of the party in the area.
The Newswriter source in the meeting equally revealed that the governor had expressed dismay over Ereforokuma’s style of running the council without due consultation with the Deputy governor, Ikuru buttressing that Ikwerre Local Government chairman would always seek his (Governor’s) consent in every of his activities and wondered why Ereforokuma would decide to be selfish in the administration of Andoni.
The Andoni APC stakeholders meeting in Government House with the governor according to the sources has achieve three cardinal things as the governor did not only identify political jobbers and liars but earned the Ikuru’s camp victory over the local government APC congress and above all would define Chief Ikanya’s position in the party since he is not likely to return as substantive party chairman in the state.
Meanwhile, Concerned youths of Ngo Community while thanking God for the governor’s observation on Ereforokuma’s antics and style of leadership are calling on the Governor to stay clear of the process of bringing about another chairman and also warns him against the temptation of bringing Orom back to the council under any guise or face revolution in the area. ###
