Day by day the political activities in Rivers State are taking fresh dimension.
Political scientists and sociologists now find it difficult to predict what will happen next in the Rivers political terrain, because of its shrouded nature.
Information reaching our political desk on Monday, revealed that the Supervising Minister for Education, Chief Barr. Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike on Sunday visited a former war lord in the Niger Delta geo-political region, Comrade Soboma Jackrich, alias Egberipapa in his residence at Degema Consulate in the Degema Local Government Area.
The Supervising Minister’s visit lasted over four (4) hours. The purpose of the visit was not known as at the time of filing in this report, but a source hinted this publication that the discussions during the visit were centrered on the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state and also that of the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan.
Political pundits could not explain the reasons behind Wike’s visit since Egberipapa had recently called for his sack and also that of the chairman of the Rivers State chapter of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bro Felix Obuah.
Wike is nursing gubernatorial ambition to succeed Governor Amaechi in 2015, while Egberipapa is advocating for a governor from Kalabari extraction come February 28, 2015. The duo are on parallel course, with different political beliefs.
Barely two (2) months ago, Egberipapa led Kegema Unity Forum (KUF) staged a peaceful protest to state PDP Secretariat, Aba Road in Port Harcourt. During the protest, Egberipapa demanded for restructuring of the party executives in Asalga, removal of Wike and Obuah as the state PDP chairman.
Egberipapa has a dream, and his dream is to see a Kalabari governor in 2015. He has spent so much of his time, money and resources to ensure that a Kalabari governor emerges next February.
According to reliable and knowledgeable information, we gathered that Chief Wike’s Easter Sunday’s visit to Egberipapa is part of his consultation with some stakeholders in the state concerning his gubernatorial ambition.
The question many are asking: Will Egberipapa sink his dream of Kalabari governor in 2015 now that the Supervising Minister for Education, Barr. Wike has visited him at his country Home, Degema Consulate? This question will be answered as the day goes by. ###
