Prominent leaders and key stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area of Rivers State rose from their meeting held on Tuesday in Port Harcourt and endorsed the Supervising Minister for Education, Barr. Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike as the governorship candidate of the party in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Rivers Sate come 2015.
Addressing newsmen in Port Harcourt, the leader of PDP in the LGA, and former senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Alabo Senator Adawari Michael Pepple said the meeting of key stakeholders and members of the party in the LGA was for the purpose of making known the position of PDP stalwarts and followers in the LGA, with respect to the forthcoming gubernatorial election coming up next year.
In their resolution reached after the meeting, the party in the LGA wholeheartedly drums up support for President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to return to the number one position in 2015, while also pledging their unalloyed support to the National chairman of the party, Alhaji Adamu Mauazu and Bro. Felix Obuah, State Chairman of Rivers PDP.
“We have deliberated extensively on the said subject, and as a people, we have come to a common position. Our position is predicated on the need to see the transformation and transition of the party in Rivers State to a fruitful and conclusive end. To that extent, we of the PDP in Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area feel that until we are able to recapture the Government House in Port Harcourt, the battle is not over. As a result, we the Leaders and key stakeholders including men and women of Opobo and Nkoro of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Rivers State, hereby state as follows:
That we support our eminent son and brother, His Excellency, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Alhaji Adamu Muazu, the National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, Abuja.
That we have collectively endorsed His Excellency, Mr. President to contest for the Office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the forth-coming Presidential Election in the year 2015.
That we likewise support the Leader of the People’s Democratic Party, Rivers State, Chief Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike, the Supervising Minister of Education and the State Chairman of PDP, Bro. Felix Obuah.
Finally, that we, the Leaders and Members of OpobolNkoro PDP have jointly endorsed Chief Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike as the Governorship Candidate of our great Party for the forthcoming Gubernatorial Election in Rivers State, come 2015.
Key PDP stalwarts and members in Opobo/Nkoro LGA attended the meeting. They include Hon. Chris Berewari, Senibo Adonye Diri, Senibo Isaac Mietamuno Jaja, Benneth Benneth, Deacon Akioye Fubara, Senibo Benjamin Jaja and many other prominent stakeholders too numerous to mention. ###
