A community based organization known as Port Harcourt Wakirike Development Frontiers (PHWDF) said it will continue to blow the trumpet for Comr. Ateke Tom Owoi-Opuoru, leader/founder, Sekuro Foundation to become the next governor of Rivers State in 2015.
The organization led by Hon. Tubonemi Aggo declared the association’s position when it paid a courtesy vist to the leader of Niger Delta Vigilante Force, Comr. Ateke T. Owoi-Opuoru in his country home at Okochiri.
Declaring the message of the delegation, the spokesman of the delegation, Hon. Sylvanus Godpower in his speech said the organization was formed long ago to advocate the emancipation of Wakirike indigenes in Phalga politics based on the 1913 agreement between the Rebisi and the Okrikans and to ensure the return of Goodluck Jonathan 2015.
On a solidarity speech the Secretary General of the organization, Comr. Alapakabia Tobin maintained that the organization’s support to Comr. Ateke Tom Owoi-Opuoru to run as a guber candidate of Rivers State is a call of all sons and daughters of Okrika Ijaws in the entire Niger Delta if zoning is not recognized. The secretary who is also an Okrika born journalist further stated that in the politics of Nigeria down to Rivers State, zoning had been the philosophy of the Rivers people politics and cannot be condemned as a result of one man interest, adding that the interest of the entire ethnic nationalities in Rivers State is paramount than the interest of one man.
In his acceptance speech Ateke said that he remains the peace ambassador of Niger Delta and will avoid anything that will heat the polity of Rivers but if the gubernatorial chance is not given to the riverine that he has no option than to accept the mass call and described the zoning as part of the politics of Rivers people and should be maintained for other tribes to have sense of belonging on the governorship position in the state.
The group also call on Ateke to accept the offer of its grand patron.###
