Youth Leader Makes Case For Iriebe Community

A youth leader in Iriebe community in Oro-Esara kingdom, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, Chief Innocent Eleto has sent a passionate appeal to the Rivers State Government and the management of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to construct better drainage system that will tackle the perennial flooding and erosion in the area.

The youth leader who made this known, while speaking to our correspondent over the weekend, further appealed to Shell and the state government to provide job opportunities to the unemployed youths of the community, and also to construct skills acquisition centre in the area so as to encourage skills development among the youths of the area.

Chief Eleto who had earlier commended the NDDC for embarking on the construction and rehabilitation of roads in the Iriebe community, lamented the deplorable condition in which the pupils in the primary school are learning.

He called on the government and the relevant authorities to commission the modern primary school.

He said that the Iriebe community has contributed much to the development of the state, especially in the areas of allocating lands to the government to build housing units and also embark on the school to land project.

The youth leader alleged that the community could boost of fourteen (14) functional oil wells.

He described the relationship between the elders and the youths as cordial, and cautioned the youths against hooliganism and violence during the 2015 general election.

Chief Eleto advised Rivers politicians not to see politics as do or die affair, adding that God ordains leaders. And called on Nigerians to vote for candidates of their choice in the 2015 election.

He commended President Goodluck Jonathan for his giant strides and further applauded him on the convocation of the National Conference.

Chief Eleto condemned the activities of the Boko Haram and urged its members to emulate the footsteps of the Niger Delta militants who embraced peace after dialogue and negotiations with the federal government. ###
