Youths of Bakana community in the Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State have been advised to embrace peace for the total interest of the area.
Prince Lawrence Odum who gave the advice at a press briefing in the Port Harcourt, on Monday said that no community will develop in the atmosphere of rancour and acrimony. He described the youths as the leaders of today that have the strength and the capability of moving the community forward.
Prince Odum further called on the youths to sink all their differences and ignore the mistakes of yesterday, by embracing the Amanyanabo of Bakana, HRH Omieibimaba Orubuiyi Odum VIII, in order to positively transform the community.
“Other communities in the Kalabari kingdom are growing and advancing day by day.
But Bakana is stagnated because of unnecessary domestic politics. Now that the Court of Appeal has put to end the kingship tussle in Bakana, there is need for everyone of us to come together as one to support the king to usher in the needed development into the community”, Prince Odum said.
According to him, despite the series of opposition, he (Princewil Odum) has met with his father, the Bakana monarch who has accepted to work with every segment of the community to bring in development.
Prince Odum also appealed to indigenes of the community both at home and Diaspora to rally around King Odum VIII, now that Amanyanaboship tussles in Bakana have been put to rest.
His words, “I want everybody in the community to rally round him, so that we can move forward.
We thank God that today, the truth has been revealed that Odum is the king of Bakana. The truth has been established and nothing can destroy it. Let us accept the truth, that is only solution to our progress.”
He further pleaded with all the contestants to the stool to bury their ambition and pride to embrace King Odum VIII to develop the Bakana community.
“I know that, my father, King Odum VIII is a very intelligent person, who believes in development of the community. He needs every member of the town to join him, so that things will go on smoothly as regards to human and community development”, Prince Odum concluded. ###
