The Rivers PDP Third Force Movement (RPTFM) having in the past called on Chief Nyesom Wike not to think of fielding himself in the 2015 Rivers PDP Gubernatorial election and for the restructuring of our great party, the PDP to allow for a more broad based representation of our people, find it necessary at this point to make a further call on President Goodluck Jonathan to sack the Supervising Minister for Education, Chief Nzebunwo Nyesom Wike before it is too late.
We make this call for three reasons:-
Firstly, we believe Chief Nyesom Wike is using the office of the Presidency to build a political empire for himself while the PDP continues to run aground in Rivers State. The most recent point in fact besides that of the GDI, is the personal Data Form circulated by Chief Nyesom Woke amongst the LGAs, in particular the Ward levels of PDP in Rivers State compelling members to register, with the aim of getting ten members for each Polling Unit as Excos for his new empire. These polling unit excos recruited by Chief Wike are to be loyal to him and not the PDP. We make bold to state that this is an act of political sabotage against the PDP because we know that the Data Form circulated by Chief Nyesom Wike is not a PDP Data form, neither was it a product of a decision by members of the National or State Chapter of the PDP.
Secondly, we believe that Chief Nyesom Wike’s sack is of utmost necessity because if he is allowed to continue using the name of the Presidency to build, enhance and expand his political empire, at a point, it would be used as a leverage to mortgage the future of Rivers State and hold the PDP (State and National) and our President, Goodluck Jonathan to ransom. Chief Nyesom Wike is clearly a Shylock who will not only rip Rivers people off their skin, but will pluck off the eyes of PDP in Rivers State except the power which he uses to build upon such infelicity is taken away from him.
As members of the PDP who consult widely, we know the importance of Chief Wike’s ethnic nationality to wining an election in Rivers State, but the political truth here is that a lot of Ikwerre political gurus and those of other ethnic nationalities in the State cannot put in their best to the PDP because of Chief Wike’s policy of seclusion, while some have chosen to follow Amaechi’s APC. Practical political analysts of our great party, the PDP would agree that if Nyesom Wike is sacked and replaced with the likes of Hon Austin Opara who undoubtedly was Governor Amaechi’s strongest contender to the 2007 PDP Rivers Guber ticket or Sir Celestine Omehia, the PDP will flourish and be better positioned for 2015 election in Rivers State. Better still, the party stands to gain more if the likes of Hon Nnamdi Wokekoro (Ikwerre 1) who left for APC because of Chief Wike’s seclusive politics are wooed with ministerial position to replace Chief Wike. No doubt, such an action will not only further create a divide in Rivers APC but will increase the support base of the party because Sir Celestine Omehia, Hon Nnamdi Wokekoro and Hon Austin Opara are broadbased, detrabilised and more practical politicians of Ikwerre descent.
Thirdly, the sack of the Supervising Minister for Education will see a stronger, vibrant and an all inclusive PDP formation in Rivers State where every stakeholder of the party would be given the opportunity to put in their best for the interest of the party.
We at the RPTFM having condemned these devious moves by Chief Nyesom Wike, use this opportunity to call on all PDP members to avoid and destroy the Data Form distributed by Chief Wike and his GDI as this is not the approach usually taken by the PDP to recruit Polling Agents across the State for electoral duties. We are for a greater PDP and not for Chief Nyesom Wike’s politics of deceit and perverted exclusionism!
Finally, we thank the National Leadership of our great party for heeding to our calls and according the rightful leadership status in our State Chapter to Sir (Dr) Peter Odili by assigning him to conduct the party primaries in Ekiti State as opposed to Chief Nyesom Wike who was angling for this. We know that this is the beginning of the restructuring of the party that we have been calling for. Long Live the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Long live the Peoples Democratic Party.
