Indications have emerged that the Rivers State deputy governor, Engr. Tele R. Ikuru is battled ready to confront the seeming challenges he has been overlooking in his home local government area, Andoni, posed by the sitting council chairman, Orom Nte Ereforokuma and acting APC state chairman of All Progressive Congress (APC), Chief Davies Ibiamu Ikanya.
Revealed, the deputy governor, Tele Ikuru who many in the APC consider to be quiet is said to have the majority of support in the area and has his network throughout the 11 wards of the LGA.
Ikuru, sources said has declared to prove to Rivers people his political prowels in the area as the APC leader in the Local Government, since the council chairman, Ereforokuma and state APC chairman are allegedly on one divide to slot it out against the deputy governor.
But politicians in the area, The Newswriter political desk gathered are wondering how and on what premise those against the deputy governor could strive noting that, the anti-deputy governor group are not capable enough to fight him.
Politicians in the area, it was learnt are all in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and if there are some left, they are for the deputy governor who is quietly doing his underground work within and outside Andoni.
“The structure to work with in the area is in the favour of the deputy governor, Ikuru and he is now ready to exhibit his leadership prowels not because he is deputy governor but just that he has the capability to maintain a structure, formidable enough to deliver Andoni and from the hungry, desperate power seekers” the source said.
The ward congress across Andoni will be an exercise to watch as the who is who in Andoni APC are closed to the take off line.
The deputy governor, Ikuru is joined in APC by a known force, former caretaker chairman and chieftain of the APC in the state, Hon. Esuku M. Esuku.
Pundits say, Esuku cannot work and walk a straight road with the state acting chairman, Chief Ikanya owing to what was described as betrayal in respect to party office.
Political analysts in the area also posited that with Esuku, a grassroots mobilizer and loved by many, the deputy governor with his tentacles spread across the entire wards, victory is sure.
On the strength of the state acting chairman of APC, Ikanya and council chairman, Ereforokuma at the disposal of finance in the area, the people are not perturbed at all, as they concluded that Ikanya is banking on former glory while Ereforokuma believes in the council funds.
In all these, analysts and party stalwarts in the area, said before money works anything there must be structure on ground to propel strategies but decried lack of structure on the part of Ereforokuma and Ikanya respectively.
Another difficulty facing the camp of the council chairman and this cohorts is that the supposed who is who in that camp are all greedy fellows, each looking for his benefit at the same time. What this means is that, both the state acting chairman, council chairman, adviser on primary education to governor, Hon. Sam Sam Etetegwung and others have their individual interests that must come to bear concurrently because all of them have secret ambitions on political seat yet to be disclosed. Invariably, everyone is suspicious of each other.
It is said that, a “kingdom that fights against itself cannot stand”, therefore the anti-deputy governors’ camp have no strength to contend the party’s battle in the area.
The structure of the state acting chairman, if at all there is any in the area is weak while the council chairman believes in deceiving the people with the council’s funds.
This is basically the problem Gov. Amaechi is facing in the area because those he believed to be his own in Andoni even with enormous financial resources cannot match a moving train. He is most likely to hit the brick wall. The people, however, accused their two representatives at the National Assembly of fueling the crisis in APC in the area.
It would be recalled that it was Andoni that facilitated, and gave voting backup to Senator Magnus’s victory and outrightly produced the member House of Representatives, Dakuku Adol Peterside.
But the people said, while senator Abe is liberal and lovely Peterside is allegedly sentimental.
The heat in Andoni chapter of APC is better watched and experienced as events unfold in days ahead than imagined. ###
