A Port Harcourt based football enthusiast Lambert Dele has said that the Nigeria premier league could be made interesting to watch like that of the English premiership league if certain conditions are employed.
The grassroots football administrator, said if those who manage the league actually want the Nigeria Glo sponsored professional football league to be interesting like that of the English premiership, they should be prepared to involve televising all the matches played adding that just like the EPL matches are televised on weekly and daily basis.
He also said, corporate sponsorship for the league will go along way to attract a good partnership between the players and the fans, saying that if fans constantly see their favourite player on the jersey of any of the team, they would want to buy that jersey to wear as well as support that club an their preferred players, just like that of the EPL players.
The league management committee (LMC) could also increase players pay package, allowances and incentives to attract other players from foreign countries to play in the Nigeria premier league.
The gentle soft spoken grassroot football administrator hinted that security is a crucial factor that keep fans away from the stadiums, stressing that this could be taken care of if the LMC wants fans to come back to the stadia to watch matches by making security an interesting factor by providing enough security to the safety of fans and the players in this way, both players and fans will be happy to ignite that hunger of passion in playing well and watching the league.
Speaking further, he said giving enough incentives to the players will ignite competitive spirit among the players which will make them to play their best with their minds.
“We have lots of corporate organizations, they could be wooed. This could strike a balance for between the company’s team management and the fans. “You know, when a company name is on a jersey of all the players it is enough advert for that company. The company will be happy, the players’ team and fans will be happy as football is now a global thing”.
The Nigeria league and the English league could not be compared because of its management, the same players that apply their trade over there are the same players that came out from the Nigeria premier league. ###
