The Rivers State Peoples Democratic Party PDP has opened a new chapter in the history of the party in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State\. This followed the opening of the party secretariat, located along Omagwa Express Road, by the state party Chairman, Chief Felix Obuah.
Addressing party members and guests at the commissioning ceremony, Chief Felix Obuah, commended the people of Kelga for being the first to flag-off Grassroot Development Initiative GDI in the state and the first to say no to injustice in the state, adding that maintaining first position in everything that has to do with the party, will never depart from them.
The party boss, who thanked the people for their support to him, lauded those that are working with him from Kelga and added that the party will give all the necessary support to ensure that the opposition does not have any way in the L.G.A
Obuah, however made a donation of N1million for the council’s party to open an account, where the Local Government Party Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary will be the sole signatories to the account, pointing out that the money was to assist the party executives in running the affairs of the party and promised to provide bus and other vehicles for them to run the affairs of the party effectively and assured of carrying everyone along.
Speaking with newsmen, the duo of Hon. Anslem Oguguo, PDP Chairman, Ikwerre LGA and Mr. Nwanosike Samuel, Assistant Publicity Secretary PDP Rivers State and Secretary-General, GDI, who shared views on the uniqueness of the event, stated that it has never happened in the history of PDP in Ikwerre LGA, to have a working office for the party.
Hon. Oguguo, who assured of transparency while handling the party affairs, noted that the strategic location of the party secretariat was to provide a conducive environment for all and sundry, urging Kelga people to continue in their support for PDP.
While Mr. Nwanosike Samuel, pointed out that they will continue to work relentlessly as indigenes of the area (Kelga), to ensure that they deliver Ikwerre LGA to PDP come 2015. He further called on the state governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi, who has defected to All Progressive Congress APC Party not to deviate from his clamor of “one man one vote”.
He pointed out that 2015 elections will provide an ample opportunity for Rivers, Nigerians and the world at large to know whether Amaechi has lived up to what he clamored for or not by not trying to rig the elections. Nwanosike in the meantime, boasted that PDP will win Amaechi in his Ubima ward come 2015.
Those who were also on hand to receive the state party chairman, Chief Obuah at the event include: Elder Crowder Wele, PDP chieftain from Omagwa and Hon. Prince Nyeche, former Councilor in Kelga among others.
