Monarch Applauds Signing of SPDC/Kula GMOU

…Says There Is No Opueze Family In Belema

The Amanyanabo of Belema Community in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area, HRH Ibinabo Kalaoriye said that due processes were followed during the signing of the Global Memorandum of Understanding (GMoU) between the management of the Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) and the Kula community.

Addressing newsmen in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, the paramount ruler expressed optimism that the GMoU would usher in the needed development into the community.

The monarch pointed out that all relevant parties were involved in the signing processes, and that those who are kicking against the GMoU are individuals that do not have the interest of the community at heart.

“I am one of the signatories to the GMoU” HRH Kalaoriye revealed.

He had Earlier disclosed that there is no family known as Ingeji and Opueze in Belema town. The Amanyanabo advised the trouble makers to sheath their swords for the interest of the community.

“Opueze family is part and parcel of Sara House. The young man that parades himself as the Amanyanabo of Ingeji community, his father, late Chief Opueze contested the Kula Amanyanabo stool with Sara and lost out. Today his brother is a Chief in Sara House. This young man should know where he comes from and stop interfering with the internal affairs of Belema community”. HRH Kalaoriye advised.

HRH Kalaoriye who condemned the shutdown of Ekulama I, Ekulama II and Belema flow stations called on the security agents to move into the area to ensure that those who are involve in the act should be brought to book.

The Amanyanabo blasted individuals who are convening meeting on behalf of the community without his consent, alleging that such people are not part and parcel of the area. He called on the public to regard such meeting, adding that it is a calculated attempt to foment problems in the community.

“I am the Amanyanabo of Belema community who has the authority to convene meeting in Belema, apart from me, anyone who does that commits sacrilege,” the Monarch said.

He called on the people of the area to always tread the path of dialogue so that peace will reign in the Belema community. ###
