Obio/Akpor Embraces APC

The Chief of Staff Government House, Hon. Tony Okocha has commended the people of Obio/Akpor Local Government for supporting the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Chief Okocha made the commendation during the monitoring of the APC registration exercise at the Local Government Area. He thanked the people of Obio/Akpor for the sacrifice they have made for the APC in the state.

At ward 12 Rumuigbo the Chief of Staff told those at the registration centre not to compromise or succumb to the dictate of hoodlums. In Ward 16 Ogbogoro the youths in the area sang solidarity songs in support of the Chief of Staff.

Briefing journalists shortly after the monitoring exercise, a former Caretaker committee CTC chairman, Hon. Chikordi Dike said those who are attacking people registering with the APC is doing so out of fear, frustration and lose of control.

Hon. Dike told the youths of the area to continue to tread on the path of peace and not to retaliate the attack done to them.

The former council boss in the area said no amount of threat, intimidation and harassment can stop the people from moving to the right party which is APC.

Hon. Dike stated that there is massive acceptance of the party in the area as a result of the rejection of “Pharoah” by the people noting that the people of Obio/Akpor were in bondage in the past years and right now they are liberated from the hands of the “political pharaoh” who is the Supervising Minister of Education.

On the report that there are some disturbances of party registration in the some units in the area, Hon. Dike maintained that change is permanent and as a local Government Area, they have been in bondage without any alternative platform and that is why people are coming out to register in APC.

“This is the home of APC, my ward is the home of APC and with help of our leader in the state, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi we have the sense of belonging” he stated.

Explaining further, Hon. Dike said APC is grassroots oriented and people should count on them any day, anytime especially in the 2015 elections.

Earlier, the Chief of Staff Government House, Port Harcourt has expressed happiness with those who came out and identified with the party.

Hon. Okocha stated that for the people of Obio/Akpor to come out to register with the party shows they love and have choice for the party. ###
