The Paramount Ruler of Iboloji Community, Rumuigbo, in Obio /Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, Eze Sir Dr. Allwell Ome- Egeonu has described community development as a catalyst to national development, adding that the development in Rivers State could not be talked about without taken cognisance of the communities.
Ome Egeonu in a chat with newsmen in Port Harcourt, blamed the political crisis in the state on poverty and unemployment, which he said has dragged the youths to do things that politicians want them to do.
The paramount ruler however, called on Nigerians not to see opposition as an aberration, adding that constructive opposition brings about development.
Responding on the crisis between the two Ikwerre sons, (Amaechi and Wike) Sir Ome Egeonu disclosed that several attempts have been made to settle the differences, but added that it was left for the duo to accept it or not.
He further advised people not to allow themselves be used to destroy infrastructure, stating that the yearly Carnival of Ekinigbo has brought about peace and unity among people of the community, pointing out that his truthful way of doing things as a paramount ruler, has helped to keep his community intact, despite the antics of politicians.
Eze Ome- Egeonu also used the medium to call on government not to allow uneducated Chiefs to become first class chiefs and the need to provide proper orientation for them.
