Invitation Of Players; Keshi Knows What He Is Doing – Lambert

A seasoned sports enthusiast and ardent follower of the Super Eagles, Dele Lambert, from Abua Local Government Area has come out to correct the impression that Keshi does not want to invite some of the best legs of Nigeria Soccer to the Super Eagles.

The outspoken football administrator, said that Keshi knows the players he needs in his game plan as such is inviting only players he thinks could give him what he wants.

Lambert further said, Keshi as the man in charge of the team knows all and tries to manage the player as possible as he could to achieve result, but besides that, there are certain qualities Keshi is also looking at in the players.

“Keshi, as the technical manager of the players, talent, is also looking at character in both in the field  and off the pitch. Certain players that are talented may not have character, this works against Keshi, that is where he is having problems with some of the expected players to be invited into the Super Eagles squad.

He cited Yobo as a good example, saying Keshi despite Yobo was not invited to play for the Super Eagles for a longtime, Keshi still addresses him as his Super Eagles captain, now Yobo has been invited to feature for the Nigeria Mexico friendly match.

He advised Nigerians to pray for Keshi as he made his final 23 man team list for the world cup, adding that there are players that are good players but do not score goal though they complement the efforts of other players to score goal for the entire team.

Urging Nigerians not to believe in one goal scorer squad for the world cup bound Keshi Super Eagles rather the likes of Uche Ike, Osaze and Mikel Obi should play as a team for the common good of the entire team and stop believing that the likes of Uche Ike and others are good players, hence the Super Eagles, goals would come through such perceived all time seasoned scorers.

From the time of Daniel Omokachi, he plays well but he was not always scoring but he added value to the team by putting pressure on the opponents defence for other players of the team to score the goals.”

He concluded by saying that a good player without character could not make a good team player, that is what Keshi is battling with, he said. ###
