The Rivers State Government has accused a chieftain of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Tonye Princewill of not executing contracts and projects awarded to his firm.
The Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari who levelled the allegation against the party Chief, while speaking at a radio programme, “Viewpoint” in Rhyme 93.7 last Saturday, alleged that most of the contracts awarded to the Kalabari Prince are yet to be completed.
According to her, the Buguma shore protection was also awarded to the son of the Kalabari monarch. She warned Princewill to stop making unnecessary utternaces against the administration of Gov. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.
The Commissioner who was reacting to Prince Princewill’s press interview in a radio programme, penultimate Saturday, where he claimed to have been executed contracts worth only N400m in the present administration under the leadership of Amaechi. She alleged that Princewill did not say the truth and advised that he should be mindful of his words, to avoid confusing the good people of the state.
The Information Commissioner also tongue-lashed the former Federal Minister of Transport, Dr. Abiye Sekibo for what she calls, “baseless statements”. Mrs. Semenitari accused Sekibo of destruction of Okuruma and other communities in Okrika Kingdom. She further blasted the former Minister for encouraging hooliganism in the state.
“Sekibo is my senior brother and I respect him, but he should be mindful of what he says concerning the state government”. We don’t want to expose anybody”, the information commissioner said.
She described the ex-minister as a “destroyer”, alleging that he has never done anything to improve the lives of the Okrika, while even in Government. ##
