A frontline socio-political group known as the Southern Nigerian Youth Council, SNYC has declared its support for the forthcoming National Conference.
The National President of the council, Comrade Temple Morford who made the declaration at a press briefing in Port Harcourt on Monday, stressed the importance of National Conference in resolving problems bordering national affairs.
Comrade Morford described the proposed National Dialogue as a “welcome development,” expressing hope that it would put to an end the agitations such as the resource control emanating from the various ethnic nationalities in the country.
The National President of the SNYC called for proper funding of the Conference and also to ensure that the youths of the Southern Nigeria are properly represented.
He advised that the delegates to the proposed conference should engage in peaceful dialogue and deliberations to ensure that they put the interest of the nation at the forefront.
Comrade Morford appealed to President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to ensure that the outcome of the conference should not be swept under the carpet as done to the outcome of the deliberations of the previous conferences and committees set up by the Federal Government.
He had earlier called on the various geo-political zones to support the National Confab and urged the delegates to avoid anything that would cause chaos during their deliberations. ###
