Millions of naira have disappeared in the Rivers State Stadia Authority.
Reliable sources had it that some money paid to the officials of the authority to rent halls and other facilities were not remitted to the appropriate account rather diverted into personal pockets and private bank accounts.
Alfred Diette Spiff Civic Centre and the Port Harcourt Stadium are under the control of the stadia authority. Investigation has revealed that some officials of the authority who are in charge of hiring out halls and the stadium to organization of events are not sincere while rendering their accounts.
Mr. James Nmehelle is the Acting Director of the Rivers State stadia authority. He has been accused of not doing his official duties well with regards to proper supervision of the authority.
Staff of the authority are allegedly defrauding the Rivers State Government for deliberately refusing to remit whatsoever amount they have collected from rent. Fake receipts are sometime issued by staff.
“Sometime few workers will gang up and secretly rent out facilities and halls to pastors to organize crusades without the management of the authority”, a staff hinted our reporter to avoid unnecessary diversion of public funds. ##
