Kunle Maku Appeals For RSG Tennis Sponsorship

A Port Harcourt club Keves Global leasing sponsored tennis champion, Kunle Maku has appealed to the Rivers State government to sponsor lawn tennis talents in Rivers State.

The lawn tennis player is one of those who have given lawn tennis a lift as he had been around winning and contributing to the growth of the sport.

Speaking to The Newswriter sports shortly he won the 2nd edition of Keves global leasing sponsored championship at the Port Harcourt club 1928 lawn tennis section, according to him, there are abundant of lawn tennis talents in Rivers State that needed the state government to sponsored to south Africa for a better more improved atmosphere as there is no qualitative lawn tennis academy in Nigeria.

He stressed that the Nadal and Tyger Woodhoods are all here but except the government gets involved in their sponsorship, they could never be discovered.

He commended late Rt. Hon. Tonye Harry, who single handedly had established tennis academy which the state is reaping from adding that individuals and corporate organization could invest in these talents and still make gains out of these talents.

Pointing out that some of the talents found in Rivers State only needed to be encouraged and the sky will be there stepping stone as they are ready to explode to limelight in no distance time.

He therefore urged the Rivers State government to invest more on sponsoring lawn tennis talents in Rivers State and enjoy the benefit in the game.

He lamented that while there are abundant lawn tennis talents abound in Rivers State, the government is not doing anything to tap at the benefit that would have accrued from the talents if they are sponsored outside into international meet.

“Lawn tennis in Rivers State alone would employ large number of the youths if Rivers State government will take the advantage therein, by taking aggressive step in establishing lawn tennis in every secondary school, he said. ###
