The Leagues of Character Clubs Nigeria (LCCN) has conferred award on the chairman of the Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, Hon. Oyaduogha Jerry Willy.
Speaking while receiving the award the Council boss applauded the club for its character re-orientation and good character moulding.
The Council chairman further lauded the President-General of the club, Chief (Eld) Christian A.Y Kokoriko (Tourist) for his initiative to embark on good character campaigns across the nation.
Hon. Willy called on other socio-political groups to emulate the footsteps of the LCCN, describing the character club as a “light bearer”.
He promised to support the club whenever the need arises and appealed to them to throw their weight behind Governor Seriake Dickson to scale through his Restoration Agenda.
In his speech, the Project Captain of the council, Engr. Sunday Ekere commended the club for focusing on good character. He hailed the Council boss for initiating policies and programmes to uplift the standard of living in the Sagbama Local Government Area.
Earlier in his response, the President-General of the club, Chief (Eld) Kokoriko cited positive development, economic empowerment, and better community development policies as some of the reasons for conferring the award on the Council Chairman.
He lauded Hon. Willy for his various developmental strides, which according to him have positive impact on the lives of the rural dwellers.
Chief Kokoriko disclosed that his clubs are the organizers of the late Character HRH Chief Dr. Pere Harold Dappa Biriye JP CON annual soccer competitions, in the South-South geo-political zone and the late Senator (Dr.) Melford Obene Okilo’s seminars on character building.
He further disclosed that the club would soon embark on peace campaign tour in the state. The proposed campaign according to him would take place in all the LGAs, Churches, Organizations amongst others.
Chief Kokoriko had earlier applauded its Grand Patron, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for his Transformation Agenda and urged Nigerians to support him in 2015.
In a vote of thanks, Mr. Sonny Koyia of Sagbama LGA thanked the President-General of LCCN for his activeness in ensuring better character building in Nigeria. He prayed God to give him the wisdom to continue to mould good characters in the society which according to him is necessary for peace and stability in any given community. ##
