The Parishioners of Christ the King Catholic Parish (CKC) Agwa, in Oguta LGA, Imo State, friends and well wishers gathered at the Church auditorium on the 4th of January 2014 to celebrate one of the foremost indigenous Priests from Agwa, Very Rev. Fr. Hyginus Ebere Ogbonna as he celebrates his Silver Jubilee in grand style in the Vineyard of God.
In his remarks the chairman of the occasion, Hon. Barr. Peter C. Ezeobi, stated that Very Rev. Fr. Hyginus E.Ogbonna, has served to become a Bishop in some Dioceses, considering the years he has put-up in the service of God and humanity.
Hon. Ezeobi who frowned at the underdevelopment of CKC Agwa, described the nature of the parish auditorium as “unreligious” haven heard of the parish long ago and urged the parishioners to do more to improve on the church development, particularly the church building.
Speaking with journalists, Very Rev. Fr. Ogbonna expressed gratitude to God Almighty for the opportunity to celebrate his Silver Jubilee of Priestly Ordination which commenced from his parish, St. Thomas Parish Church, Obinze, Imo State on the 30th of December 2013 and the subsequent reception in his honour, at his home parish, Agwa.
Responding to the chairman’s view on the underdevelopment of CKC Parish, Rev. Hyginus disclosed that the foundation of the Parish auditorium was laid 25years ago, when he was a Seminarian, adding that Agwa Community tried to build the Church in unism for a very long time, pointing out that the church was supposed to be built and made colourful as a house of God, but admitted that it was not so.
On challenges, Fr. Ogbonna described himself and all the followers of Christ as sowers and seeds that are expected to germinate and grow, expressing that he will continue to do the work of God for humanity. He described 2014 as a special year for those of his colleagues that are celebrating their Silver Jubilee either as a Bishop or Rev. Father, even couples, noting that God permits people to celebrate some important events in their likes, urging all and sundry to be happy and enjoy all the goodies that 2014 will offer to them.###
