2014 Rivers Budget Has Not Been Passed – Speaker Bipi

HON. EVANS BIPIThe speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Evans Bipi said that the State Assembly is yet to pass the 2014 Appropriation Bill.

The Speaker who made this known while speaking at the inauguration of LGA and Ward officers of the Degema chapter of the Grassroot Development Initiative (GDI) at the weekend in Degema Consulate, headquarters of Degema Local Government Area.

He said that the key to the state House of Assembly is still with him, adding that except he opens the House nobody can have access to it.

Rt. Hon. Bipi maintained that there is no way a state budget of over four (4) hundred billion naira would be passed in the Government House, “therefore it cannot stand”. On the alleged shooting of Senator Magnus Abe, the Speaker said that as a former police officer he could state categorically that police do not use rubber bullets, but live ammunition. He advised the Senator to stop telling lies and observed that he (Senator Abe) is acting “a drama”.

On the 2015 presidential second term ambition of Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, the speaker declared that nobody can stop him from contesting and he is sure of winning. ###
