Unpaid Salary: RSG Owes TIMARIV N160m

GOV. CHIBUIKE ROTIMI AMAECHIThe staff of the Rivers State Traffic Management Authority, (TIMARIV) alleged that they have not received their salary in the past four (4) months.

This was made known when no fewer than twenty five (25) staff of the Authority stormed our office on Tuesday. They alleged that their unpaid salary bill in the past 4 months amount to N160m.

The officials of the authority who visited our newsroom did not want their names on print accused the acting Controller of TIMARIV, one Mr. Constance Eke of insensitivity to their plight.

According to them, the Acting Controller does not have the interest of the authority at heart, “rather he is only looking for where he can make money to complete the building of his mini estate”.

They further accused him of ethnicity and tribalism, alleging that he has recently employed over 300 persons who are indigenes of Ikwerre ethnic nationality.

The TIMARIV officials blasted Mr. Eke and demanded for his removal so to enable the authority to accomplish its statutory obligations.

They had earlier lamented the non-payment of their salary, saying it affects their standard of living and that of their families “Most of us cannot pay our house rent. We cannot also take care of our children school fees. We find it very difficult to feed”, the TIMARIV staff asserted.

They pleaded with the Government of Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi to do something about their situation to save them from unnecessary hunger. ###
