Worried by the injustice allegedly meted to Rivers people by the President Goodluck Jonathan led administration, a prominent chief in Rivers State, HRH Chief Owabie Tobin, the Eze Onumini 1 of Port Harcourt City has appealed to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to support Rivers people in his re-election bid in 2015 presidential election.
In a chat with journalists in Port Harcourt the royal father who recalled president Jonathan alleged sins against Rivers people such as his refusal to sign the World Bank Water Project meant for Rivers people after Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has concluded all the necessary arrangements for the water project in the state, the ceding of Soku oil wells to Bayelsa State as well as the ceding of part of Etche, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni oil well all in Rivers State to the neighbouring state Abia State, his partial intervention in the 2013 Nigerian Governors’ Forum election in which he (Jonathan) recognized Mr. Jonah Jang the governor of Plateau state who pulled 16 votes as the chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum NGF instead of Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi his brother from the South-South region who scored 19 votes to beat his opponent Jonah Jang.
The attempt to impeach Rt. Hon. Otelemaba Dan Amachree the speaker of the Rivers House of Assembly targeted at impeaching Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi by the five anti-Amaechi lawmakers under the watch of Mr. President, the brutality of innocent citizens of Rivers state by the police under his watch in the name of political interest to take over Rivers State and win elections in 2015, his refusal to sign the UN report for the cleanup of Ogoni land among others call on President Jonathan to reverse all these anomalies and be friendly to the Rivers Governor and people as well as improve the lives of the people for him to get the blessing of Rivers people in 2015 presidential election.
According to him, in 2011 presidential election the people of the state with the support of Governor Amaechi gave him president (Jonathan) the highest vote which made him to be elected as the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria but were astonished when he works against Rivers people at present and urged him to change his pattern and do the right thing.
The royal father who re-affirmed his support for Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi noted that despite intimidation he still remain courageous stressing that his enemies will be put to shame at the end of the day.
On the statement credited to Alhaji Asari Dokubo that “the greatest mistake the people of Niger Delta made was that we did not allow the Biafran Republic to stand, the royal father said, “I am strongly saying that we the Niger Deltans did not make any mistake for not allowing the Republic of Biafra to stand what God has joined together let no man put asunder, I want Asari Dokubo to note that the Biafrans were fighting for their own interest and how to intimidate Rivers State and take over their lands.
According, to him when the Ibos were President of Nigeria, the Ibo president like Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Major Gen. Agu-Ironsi favoured the Ibos in such a way that almost all the streets of Port Harcourt were converted to Ibos’ name, such as Ikokwu, Okija, Emenike, Akokwa, Okwelle, Njemanze streets among others. ###
