The chairman of Rivers State basketball Association, Barr. Kwashi Thompson is excited for his Rivers youthful basketball team successfully outing in the just concluded National Youths Sports Festival in Abuja.
Just before the team depart to Abuja for the age grade sentization sports meet, Barr. Kwashi Thompson spoke with The Newswriter sports from his return from Mexico, that his team will record an impressive outing from the national youths sports meet true to his expectation, the Rivers youthful basketball team stole the show of the basketball meet at Abuja as even the organizers thumps up for the Kwashi Thompson chairman Rivers Basketball youthful team.
It would be recalled that the Rivers State basketball team had been on the lead for the Nigeria Basketball league and had gotten the sole ticket to represent the country in an international competitions.
It is also on record that the Rivers State Basketball team had won many laurels more than any other basketball team in Nigeria, courtesy of Barr. Kwashi Thompson managerial acumen.
To put the records straight, Rivers State Basketball team has always been Nigeria medals hopeful in the international competitions, it is then not surprising that the Rivers State youthful Basketball team had proved that in the National youths sports festival with it impressive runs over other state teams, though, the National youths sports festival is a developmental one to pick the right youthful age from the avalanche of sports men and women to replace the aging athletes in the country for international competition.
Barr. Kwashi Thompson is also a top official of the Nigeria Basketball federation and had kept faith with the Rivers State Basketball Association even as the Rivers State government never come to it aid in supporting or moving the association.
It is therefore commendable that Kwashi Thompson supportive noble gesture is still seeing the association waxing, stronger and still turning in the desired results for Rivers State.
The Rivers Youthful Basketball team departed Port Harcourt from 5th of December and came back 15th December with it impressive runs in the National event. ###
