The first military Governor of Old Rivers State, HRM King Alfred Diette Spiff has appealed to the Federal and State Governments to convert the gas that is being flared everyday into cooking gas.
King Spiff made this appeal while speaking at the just concluded 9th Port Harcourt International trade fair organized by Port Harcourt Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, Port Harcourt.
According to him, the gas that is being flared everyday could be converted to benefit mankind, adding that rather than flaring the gas to human destruction, the government should rather convert the flaring gas into cooking gas for a more purposeful use.
The Retired Navy Commander and Amanyanabo of Twon Brass opined that the gas being flared is rather causing much harm to the environment than good, stressing that the flaring gas could be converted and easily maintained and retained for cooking and usage of cars and other more judicious economic purposes. ###
