The National President of Ikwerre Traders Association (IKETA), Deacon Kenneth C. Eze has made an appeal to Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, the Governor of Rivers State to complete the 2nd Phase of the Mile One Rumu-Woji Market before the end of his tenure in 2015.

Deacon Eze made the appeal during the 4th annual thanksgiving/End of year party tagged “IKETA 2013” recently.

Deacon Eze who was recently elected as the new executive chairman of Mile One Rumu-Woji Market Traders Association (MOMTA) recalled the developmental strides of Governor Amaechi’s led administration especially the construction of various markets in Port Harcourt such as the Phase one of the Rumu-woji Mile One Market, Rumumasi Market, New Layout Market among others, expressed his profound gratitude to his benevolent gesture adding that he (Amaechi) has demonstrated that he is indeed a rare gift to the traders in Rivers State.

He commended Hon. Chimbiko Iche Akaraolo the Mayor of Port Harcourt City for his intervention in ensuring peace to Nkporlu Oroworukwo Ultra Modern Market and Rumu-woji Markets.

He lauded the Rumu-woji Market Traders for electing him as chairman and other executive of the association Deacon Eze who noted that the Ikwerre Traders Association IKETA is a non-political, non governmental organization, but a social cultural organization whose aim is to foster peace, unity and progress among Ikwerre traders with sixteen years of its existence. He said that some Ikwerre Traders are yet to identify with the body and enjoined all Ikwerre sons and daughters who are in business to avail themselves of the opportunity to move the association forward.

He enumerated some of the challenges facing the body such as building of National Secretariat, provision of official car and soft loans to members to enable them compete favourably with traders from other tribes.

In a chat with Journalists, Comrade Precious Wikanale the market superintendent and the representative of Hon. Chimbiko Akarolo, the Mayor of Port Harcourt commended members of the IKETA for organizing a thanksgiving/End of year activity describing members of the association as law abiding.

He called on the newly elected chairman of the Rumu-woji Mile One Market Traders Association Deacon Eze to maintain peace and ensure the unification of all traders in the market to move the traders forward. ###
