2015: Secondus Faces Stiff Opposition In Andoni

HON. UCHE SECONDUSRivers State Chairman of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, (ACN) and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Hon. Esuku M. Esuku has said that, despite the entrant of the Rotimi Amaechi led faction with the high spirit of hijacking the APC in the state, he is preparing to face the National Deputy Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Prince Uche Secondus come 2015 in Andoni Local Government.

Esuku, who reiterated his commitment to the APC said though Governor Amaechi defection to APC using Chief Davies Ibiamu Ikanya to ignite certain problems in the state APC, the party will remain united as the National Interim Officers of the party are in control of all the states, saying that no state has gotten any interim executive or whatsoever, pending the conduct of the congress of the party.

The former ACN boss and one time chairmanship candidate of the Action Party of Nigeria (APN), accused Chief Davies Ibiamu Ikanya of trying to sit on an empty chair prepared by someone else without inquiring to ascertain whose chair is it or if someone was on it before his arrival, alleging that they came into APC in the same way, manner and spirit of what they do in PDP.

While, admonishing the supposed new converts of APC to take things easy, the chieftain explained that position in the party will not in anyway foster the needed victory of the party in 2015 rather appealed to the new converts to join the APC in the same sacrificial manner they meet it.

He posited that, position in the party would not deter his efforts and plans to sacrifice for the party, saying that, if acquiring any position would jeopardized the aspirations of the APC, he would let it go, to ensure the party come out victorious in 2015.

EME, as popularly called had said that God indeed has answered his prayers by placing him where himself and Prince Uche Secondus would know who is a grassroots politician as he is seriously engaged in activities and preparations to challenge his former boss, Prince Secondus in 2015.

The APC chieftain, who spoke with The Newswriter via telephone  confirmed that what the self acclaimed acting chairman of APC, Rivers State, Chief Ikanya is up to is best known to him and his group from PDP saying that, the national executive of APC had invited them to Abuja for a caution.

It would be recalled that the group which came together now in the brand name of APC in the state had challenged the PDP bloc led by Prince Secondus in Andoni in the 2008 Local Government polls but with no avail.

The source of their new strength is what PDP chieftains in Andoni described as mere ranting of drowning men whose stay in the PDP, their former party was too hot hence their bowing out.

One of the PDP Chieftains who spoke with ‘The Newswriter’, Chief Elijah Elebe Ogodo described the statement created to Esuku as political gimmicks and ranting noting that APC cannot challenge PDP in Andoni as Andoni is exclusively for PDP.

Chief Ogodo who described the activities of the APC members as ignorance said APC in the area are deceiving themselves only to have a share of the national cake accruing to the LGA.

He challenged the APC to appear on the political field as the days draw closer, recalling that they have failed before and must fail again.

In his reaction, former Council Chairman in the area, Apostle Felix Fyneface Ayayi has said that politics is all about having requisite experience and popularity and as well subjecting the popularity to a test, positing that those claiming to challenge Prince Uche Secondus or PDP in 2015 have no experience of the game of politics.

Apostle Ayayi who maintained that those claiming to be APC members are all members of PDP in Andoni, said they ran away from PDP because the party was becoming too hot for them occasioned on the seed of discord they sowed in the party.

While challenging them to a popularity contest as the event on folds, Apostle Ayayi said the entire wards of Andoni would be claimed by the PDP in the next Council polls.

Furthermore, an executive member of the youth wing of the PDP, Sam Atawaji has said that PDP had defeated APN, ACN and others even with the help of Governor Amaechi, in the 2008 council election in the area and wondered why the same people according to him would reappear now to making mention of winning Andoni for APC.

The youth executive member who described the statement as laughable and noise of an empty drum concluded that since 2014 and 2015 is just at the corner, those seeking for political relevance like their master the Governor should keep preparing for their disgrace in 2015. ###
