Buguma Killings/Cultism: ASALGA Chairman, JTF Commander Petitioned

Six (6) pages strong worded petition has been sent to The Brigade Commander, 2 Amphibious Brigade and the Sector 2 Commander, The Joint Military Task Force, Operation Pulo Shield, Bori Camp, Port Harcourt following the violence that claimed several lives in Buguma, headquarters of Asari-Toru Local Government of Rivers State.

The petition entitled, “A REPORT AND PROTEST OF THE ILLEGAL AND UNSOLDIERLY ACTIVITIES OF CAPTAIN GOMO MOHAMMED GAMBO (THE COMMANDER OF THE JTF STATIONED IN BUGUMA CITY) AND HIS OFFICERS,” AND DATED NOVEMBER 20, 2013 was written by Kengema Unity Forum (KUF) under the leadership of Sobomabo Jackrich, alias Egberipapa. The said petition accused the men and officers of JTF stationed in Buguma of allegedly formenting crisis in the area.

The petition which was signed by the counsel to the group, Tubotamuno A. Dick, Esq further alleged that the JTF Commander in the area, one Captain Gomo Gambo made uncharitable demands from his client with subtle threats of working fully with the LGA chairman, Mr. Ojukaye Flag Amachree, “If Egberipapa cannot meet up with their demands for monetary and pecuniary gifts.”

The counsel also alleged that, things got to an unacceptable level, when the JTF Commander, Capt. Gomo Gambo repeatedly sent his Account Number (Gomo Mohammed Gambo, Acct No. 0056641761; Access Bank) to Egberipapa demanding that he should deposit money in the account for him to buy a jeep with a stipulated period “else he would work fully with the LGA chairman”.

The petition reads in part; “needless to state here that the Asari-Toru LGA chairman procured the jeep for Capt. Gomo Gambo within the said period. There is no gain saying that from this point the JTF Command stationed in Buguma, true to their threats, turned hostile to anything Egberipapa, our client and political support for President Goodluck Jonathan’s re-election project and openly frolicked with the local government area chairman, his White Chelsea Cult Boys and his pro-Gov. Amaechi supporters in Asari-Toru local government area of Rivers State, adding that, “infact it is of common knowledge in Buguma that the local government area chairman has acquired a large catachment of fire arms and explosives which are stored at Abbi-Ama where the LGA chairman allocated to them as camp.”

The petition maintained that, “on several occasions, it had taken the very professional intervention of the JTF sub-sector head i.e the Lt Col. stationed at Harry’s town to thwart the evil and criminal activities of Capt. Gomo Gambo and his men stationed in Buguma”.

T.A Dick Esq decried the inhuman treatment unleashed on Buguma residents and members of his client by JTF in conjunction with the cultists allegedly sponsored by the council chairman, Mr. Flag Amachree.

According to the counsel, on that fateful day, the attackers aided by the JTF in its operational van began to maltreat pro-Goodluck Jonathan supporters. So many of them were wounded, “arresting some to unknown destination”.

“When it was time to invade the house of the leader of our client, Amb. Sobomabo Jackrich aka General Egberipapa, a JTF van and their armoured car were used by the men of the JTF while the LGA chairman’s cult boys were led by Daddy Wokoma aka Daddy CSO, Emmanuel Amachree, Ejima (twins), Kalampo amongst others as they chased and brutalized the occupants of the building and pushed some of them into the river and drowned several people who could not swim or were too injured to swim,” the counsel, T.A Dick Esq wrote.

The KUF demanded for immediate arrest, investigation and court martial of Capt. Gomo Gambo and his men JTF stationed in Buguma who participated in the unwholesome criminal activities.

“We will equally suggest an immediate redeployment of the said officers in the interim for fear of an attempt at reprisal attack on officers of the JTF which on conflagrate into an Odi Community like incident because every reasonable person in Buguma, being conscious and fully aware of the unwholsesome collaboration of the JTF with arms bearing cult boys is aggrieved by these happenings”, T. A Dick Esq. concluded.

Meanwhile at the time of filing in this report, information, reaching our newsroom revealed that the embattled JTF Commander, Capt. Gomo Mohammed Gambo has been redeployed and a new Commander posted to Buguma. ###
