Two serious minded contenders to the Brick House in 2015, Senator Magnus Abe and Hon Dakuku Peterside have began to flex muscles over who to secure the people mandate to governing Rivers State from May 29, 2015 and beyond.
Senator Abe, a lawmaker representing Rivers South-East Senatorial District in the Upper House of the National Assembly while Hon. Peterside a federal legislator representing Andoni/ Opobo Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.
The two gubernatorial aspirants are close political associates to Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi. Their ambition to step into the Brick House in 2015 has created crack within the Amaechi’s political family.
Information reaching our political desk had revealed that the duo are planning to contest on the platform of the All Progressives Congress APC.
Speaking at the inauguration of LGA and Ward Officers of the Grassroot Development Initiative (GDI) at Omuma on Sunday, the chairman of the Peoples Development Party (PDP) in Rivers State, Hon. Felix Obuah alleged that Senator Abe and Hon. Peterside have spent N11bn to bribe their way out to secure the gubernatorial ticket.
According Hon. Obuah, the both aspirants are now competing who to get the governorship ticket. The party chief further alleged that, Senator Abe has spent N5bn, while Hon. Peterside has parted with N6bn in their desperate moves to become Governor of Rivers State.
“How much is their salary that they are using our resources to compete who gets the guber ticket? Magnus Abe has spent N5bn, while Dakuku has also spent N6bn. They should stop mismanagement of our resources,” Hon Obuah pleaded.
The Rivers PDP chairman further pleaded with the people of the Omuma LGA to be focused and continue to support President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and all his developmental programmes and policies. ####
