The political capital city of Andoni Local Government Area, Ngo Town was agog last Sunday following the thank you home visit of senator Magnus Ngei Abe on the executive and stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP on his election as Senator, representing the South East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, which according to him Andoni, one of the local governments that made up the district is his stronghold.
Senator Abe has been meeting with Andoni people and as well traveling to Andoni but last Sunday visit was described by some of the stakeholders as unique and home visit, saying that Andoni people contributed immensely for the success of senator Abe, hence deserved the meeting with him.
A stakeholder and executive member of the PDP in the area, Mr. Blessing Tiko said the visit was unique as widows and less privileged across the eleven wards were provided with wrappers by the senator.
Senator Abe used the occasion to intimate the people of Andoni on the reason for the lingering crisis between Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi and the Federal Government.
According to Senator Abe, the ceding of the Soku oil well to Bayelsa State and subsequent transfer of the statutory funds accruing to the state from oil blocs to Bayelsa were the reasons of the misunderstanding, adding that Governor Amaechi stands against cheating.
Abe noted further that the clarification was necessary because of misrepresentation of facts on the feud between the State government and Federal Government.
The Senator, however, thanked the executive committee of the party in the area for voting massively for him and subsequent victory at the polls.
However, a member of the stakeholders committee who do not want his name on print having thanked Senator Abe for remembering the Andoni people and accorded them the respect by visiting them, said the visit was a welcome one but it was all a campaign to support his gubernatorial ambition.
Ask if the Senator mentioned or revealed his ambition, the anonymous said, it is clear that the Senator would contest the 2015 gubernatorial seat.
According to him, “what he can not ask us to do is to ask us to leave PDP whatsoever, but for his coming to thank us, it is not thank you visit alone but to prepare our minds for his gubernatorial ambition.” He said. ###
