Cleric Backs National Confab

PST. SIMEON AFOLABIThe First Love Assembly in Rumuokwuta, Port Harcourt, has ended its national convention. The convention which is organized annually was held at the auditorium of the church.

The event ended on 3rd of November, 2013, calling on Nigerians to be proactive in tackling national issues, stressing that ethnicity and self centeredness should be avoided. Thus, urging all and sundry to put their hands on deck so as to build a virle and a Strong nation.

The General Overseer, Pst. Simeon Afolabi, seized the opportunity to appeal to God’s ministers to be steadfast in the areas of their callings and seek grace and direction of ‘God in all their undertakings,

The National Conference (Confab) he said, ‘it is better to “Dialogue” than war.” Dialogue prevents serious wars. Why not we talk? Nigerians should believe in Nigeria as a nation and treat it as one indivisible nation. And we should rise up above parochial interest no matter your tribe; we should rise above ethnic needs.

The nation requires all hands to be on deck. They should rise above their petty interest and consider national interest.

To all ministers of God, we should exercise ourselves in the calling and the assignments God has given to us that, is the gift of God. When we stay on the areas of our strength and looking unto God, we will accomplish.”

On the objective of the convention, he said “We have achieved diversity of ministrations – sick people healed a lot of miracles, those looking for jobs get employed. Some were challenged to create jobs. The convention was indeed a workshop. We learned – writing skills, creativity of youths at work and others. The main objective, we want to celebrate the Grace of God for what he has done in the past and tap afresh, a new grace and you can never go higher than His grace. We do this annually; our churches come together for three days for anew height.

On the growth of the church which has spread over the country, he gave the growth to divine intervention, stressing that all requires the Grace to excel. He said “It all boils down to grace.” Apostle Paul said, “I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me.” If we have any growth at all, it is because of the Grace of God. No one is sufficient in himself but in God. When you have the Grace of God, you can do all these things.

The founder of the church, Pst. Afolabi debunked the claim that the convention is for jamboree. He stressed that the convention is designed to accomplish divine purpose, adding that the Grace of God has been evident in the meeting. This he affirmed has taken us so far in the ministry.

In their separate speeches, the mummy of the church and pastor in

charge of Women ministry, the Pastor (Mrs.) Ruth Afolabi said that the ministry has embarked on number of activities aimed at providing ministration, thus giving succor to the less privileged by providing welfare packages and counseling women on their marriages and ways of Christ, She said, “Women Ministry has grown; the grace of God makes it to increase day by day. We recognize the position of women in the church, we give attention to our women, making them interact, we however, give them more than what they would have gotten from social meetings (Unions/associations). We provide something better of. We empower them by making sure that those that do not have jobs use their God given wisdom to start doing something that will help them .in life.” She opined.

It was a colourful convention, as many personalities from all walks of life graced the occasion. ###
