Chairman of Rivers State Baseball/Softball Association has revealed that the 2013 Rivers State baseball national league has provided opportunity to winners of that championship to feature in an international championship in India later this year.
Speaking to sports journalists, at the end of the league, he said it has not happened before in the baseball/softball history of Rivers State, though Rivers State hosted at Isaac Boro Park, the Port Harcourt based players never disappoint the chairman.

Stating that some publication made by some local tabloids too had made the competition of the sport popular for the public to follow up the progress of the game. Hence public attraction have come in for the sport.
He said his national body has resolved that every state in Nigeria will have baseball/softball, starting from age 5 the little league could be played while from the age of 18th the big league could be played by anyone of that age.
His association has created awareness with the 2013 national league by involving the schools, particularly the secondary school representatives that they could introduced it to the students of their various schools.
Revealing that winners of the 2013 league are lucky to be sponsored as behind the sport are India corperate bodies hence India will host that particular event.
The female merlin team won in the category of the female 1st position and went home with N100,000 Carnienee N50,00, Pharoahs third placed teams wait home with N30, 000 cash prize. The male category has Titian beating Carnience and Kangeroo was place third position.
Grace Reginal was adjudged the most valuable player while Pharoahs won the most discipline prize award. ####
