Ogoni Project: “2015 Is Not Negotiable” MOSOP, KAGOTE

Two socio-cultural cum political organizations of the Ogoni ethnic group, Movement for the Survival of Ogoni People, MOSOP and KAGOTE Elite Group have vowed to support any political divide, party or government that has recognized and willing to install an Ogoni man as the next Governor of Rivers State, posting that Ogoni Project 2015 is not negotiable with anyone or for anything irrespective of who is involved.

Comrade Legborsi Esaen, Public Relations Officer of MOSOP and Dr. Peter Medee, President of KAGOTE worldwide in their separate speeches dropped the hint, last Sunday in Baen Community in Khana Local Government Area while addressing the people of Khana Local Government Area on the need for an Ogoni leadership of the state in 2015.

According to the duo, Ogoni people will reject any form of intimidation and harassment against her decision to occupy the Brick House in 2015.

They revealed that the Federal Government refusal to implement the UNEP report on Ogoni is an act of rejection of the Ogoni as an entity and denial of their rights to issues hence, the Ogonis would never succumb to any such intimidation by Federal Government and SPDC.

The vocal representatives of KAGOTE and MOSOP had however, blamed the non-implementation of the UNEP report on President Goodluck Jonathan who is an indigene of South South, saying, with the emergence of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan as Nigeria’s president, the people of the area were optimistic of having their desired solution to the battered environment but expressed disappointment with the way and manner the presidency goes about the issue.

KAGOTE and MOSOP had advised all Ogonis to remain steadfast and be prepared to put on their coats because according to them, “monkey must wear coat”.

It would be recalled that during the second Republic, in the era of NPN and NPP, when the late Kente Giadom was seeking an election into governorship position of old Rivers State that the Ogonis were branded as “monkey”, an expression that an average Ogoni indigene could find it difficult to forget.

All expressions by several top Ogoni politicians at the event had indicated seriousness and willingness to take over the Brick House in 2015, against the late Senator Melford Okilo’s expression, which undermined the Ogonis status of governing the state. #James Mgboineme
