The Ijaws under the auspices of the Movement of the Survival of Ijaw Ethnic Nationality in Niger Delta (MOSIEND) have thrown their weight behind President Goodluck Jonathan’s second term ambition.
Speaking at a press briefing in Port Harcourt on Monday, the National Welfare Officer of the group, Comrade Akonte Pokubo who disclosed this, declared that the Ijaws would continue to give their support to President Jonathan to actualize his second term ambition.
“President Goodluck Jonathan is our son. He is our brother and also a father to all of us. Therefore, there is no way, we can abandon him. We will continue to stand by him until he succeeds in 2015 general election,” Comrade Pokubo said.
He threatened that any attempt to rubbish President Jonathan’s second tenure bid through the useless activities of the dreaded Islamic fundamentalists known as the Boko Haram, the country would be in crisis.
His words, “Boko Haram cannot stop the president from recontesting in 2015. Let me say this very clear no Goodluck no Nigeria.”
Comrade Pokubo had earlier lauded the Federal Supervising Minister for Education, Chief (Hon.) Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike for backing President Jonathan’s second term ambition. The MOSIEND National Welfare Officer prayed God to shower His blessing on the Federal Minister, “So that he will also actualize his dream of whatever he wants to become in 2015”.
Comrade Pokubo further sent a passionate appeal to some ex-warlords in the Niger Delta political zone namely: Alhaji Asari-Dokubo, Comrade Farah Danagogo, Comrade Tompolo, Amb. Sobomabo Jackrich, alias Egberipapa, Chief Ateke Tom and several other sons and daughters of the region to stand behind President Jonathan in the 2015 general election, “so that he can secure the mandate of Nigerians for another four (4) years in office”. ####
