Contrary to speculations making the rounds that Sir (Barr) Celestine Omehia, former governor of Rivers State and the governorship candidate for All Progressive Grand Alliance in 2011 election has decamped to the Peoples Democratic Party, his former party Sir Omehia has insisted that he remains in the All Progressive Grand Alliance.
Sir Omehia debunked the insinuation in an interview with newsmen in Abuja last Saturday.
The former Commissioner for Education in Rivers State who people believe has defected to the ruling party because he was sighted with Chief (Barr) Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike, Minister for Education’s camp in Rivers State, denied having decamped to PDP, adding that in view of 2015 forthcoming election, people should not expect him returning to PDP his former party.
According to him,” I am still in APGA and whatever they are doing is for PDP and whatever I am doing is for APGA, until any other time, but for now I am in APGA and they have their factions in PDP”.
Sir Omehia who reiterated his support for President Goodluck Jonathan in 2011 presidential election and for his passive ambition for his re-election for a second tenure in 2015 said even as an APGA member, he will support him (Jonathan), adding that nobody can stop President Goodluck Jonathan from getting the presidential ticket in 2015 except God.
On whether he has any regret on the 2007 episode where he was removed as governor of Rivers State, Omehia said he has no regret, because anything that comes on his way was God’s providence and that it was God who made him to become governor and knows why he was removed from office, adding that when he was removed he went to the church and did a thanksgiving to God for his mercies.
