The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Rivers State loyal to the Abubakar Kawu Baraje-led National Executive Committee, has described as “shameful, gross ingratitude to God and show of frustration” the comments by Barr. Ezebuwon Nyesom Wike, the Minister of State (Education) in which he claimed to know the PDP won the 2011 general election in the state.
A statement from the faction’s Publicity Secretary, Geoege Ukwuoma-Nwogba, reads, “The Baraje PDP which qualified Wike as an ingrate to the grace of God that led to his retention in the President Goodluck Jonathan cabinet “even when his abysmal performance is enough to get him out of the way” condemned the minister for arrogating a larger-than-life posture to himself.
In a statement in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, by Mr. George Ukwuoma-Nwogba, the Rivers State Publicity Secretary of the ruling party, the PDP said Wike as a politician is well-known for playing “treacherous” politics and could have secured his place in the Federal Executive Council though such means.
“The Obuah/Wike team cannot win any election in Rivers State and for the record, the success recorded by the PDP during the last general was based on the amiable and humane qualities of Governor Amaechi and the other candidates the ruling party presented for the various elective positions. For us, therefore, Wike’s outburst shows how naïve and too forgetful he could be. May be, his memory is beginning to suffer sharp depreciation.
The PDP recalled how Gov. Amaechi’s pleas on behalf of the junior minister saved him (Wike) from political death when Rivers State women took to the streets accusing Wike of being a bad influence on youths and children in Rivers State.
“It took Amaechi’s intervention, pleas and pledge that Wike would change for good for Rivers State women to sheathe their swords. That Wike would forget so soon makes us recommend an expert’s clinical examination,” the PDP added.
“Wike will not expose anybody because Rivers people already know the most corrupt politician in the last four years”, it stated, pleading that Wike spares Rivers people “the time and painful memories because we know you.”
